Possible pre-treatments
A healthy oral cavity is essential for successful implant therapy.
Anyone choosing an implant should also get the best long-term solution. Sometimes, however, the conditions in the mouth are not ideal, so pre-treatment is required. Such conditions may include caries, periodontitis or root canal inflammation, but also problems with the jaw bone substance or gums. All of the preparatory measures help to prevent complications and ensure the best possible stability and security of your implant.
Pre-treatments required may include:
- Treatment of teeth affected by caries
- Extraction of teeth that are so badly damaged or diseased that they cannot be preserved
- Treatment of root canal inflammation
- Treatment of gum diseases such as periodontitis
- Bone augmentation if the jaw bone substance is insufficient

Sometime before and after the implant is placed, we also advise not to smoke since heavy nicotine consumption significantly increases the risk of infection and therefore the danger that the implant will not fuse firmly with the jawbone.
